General Submission Guidelines:
Ratri only accepts previously unpublished work. We do allow for simultaneous submission, however, please inform us if your work is accepted elsewhere. Ratri reserves first electronic rights. All rights revert to the author upon publication. We are not currently able to offer fiscal compensation, however, we hope to be able to do so in the future.
If at any point, you no longer wish to have your work considered for publication and would like to withdraw your submission, feel free to send us an email.
Poetry Submissions:
We publish poems of any form, length, and style. Submissions should not exceed more than 4 poems. If part of your submission needs to be withdrawn, please email us.
Fiction Submissions:
We publish fiction under 6,000 words. Please submit only 1 piece per cycle. With submissions under 1,000 words, feel free to send up to 3 pieces. We also welcome stand alone excerpts from longer pieces so long as they remain under the word count.
Non-Fiction Submissions:
We publish non-fiction under 4,000 words. We accept memoirs, personal essays, and literary and cultural criticisms on the South Asian experience.
Visual Arts Submissions:
We accept visual art of any media, including photography, illustration, printmaking, paintings, comics, drawings, and mixed media work. Submissions should not exceed more than 5 pieces with an accompanying artist’s statement (200 words) describing the piece and your inspiration. Visual arts submissions should be scanned in PDF format.
